Tom Oliver Jacobson

Tom Oliver is a performance artist and curator with a special focus on durational performance works. He creates performances in galleries, theatres and public spaces, often through broad collaborations with artists from different disciplines. His work is often rooted in a speculative dimension, where a situation or state in the ”not-now” is explored through writing, audience engagement and movement scores, often with a durational element. He frequently uses world-building through writing to convey political imaginaries beyond the binaries of utopia and dystopia.

Born in Stockholm, he co-founded the artist-run production house Tlön in Malmö which produced durational performances, clubs and performance festivals in collaboration with local and international artists. Since 2016, he has been a performer in the award winning Danish performance group Sisters Hope, which creates large-scale durational performances in museums, schools and theatres. In 2019 he studied at DAS Graduate School in the program Expanded Curation, graduating 2021.

In 2020, he co-funded the temporary art institute DUST, which is an international network that has a collaborative approach to performance making. Their works and collaborations have been presented in Frascati (NL), Gessneralle (CH), Inkonst (SE), Konsthall C (SE), and in public spaces in Sweden and Netherlands.
